A luxury yacht caught fire off the coast of Kalkan while traveling from Kaş in Antalya to Marmaris in Muğla. As a result, the captain immediately called for help. Coast Guard teams responded quickly and rescued him safely.
The incident happened around 12:00 PM near Kalkan, a neighborhood of Kaş. According to initial reports, flames suddenly broke out while the yacht was heading toward Marmaris. Therefore, the captain requested emergency assistance without delay.
Soon after the alert, Coast Guard units rushed to the area. At the same time, gendarmerie and medical teams waited at the port in case further support was needed. When the Coast Guard arrived, thick smoke surrounded the yacht. Nevertheless, the teams evacuated the captain quickly and transported him to a safe location.
Meanwhile, responders worked to control the fire. They successfully contained the flames, and cooling operations are still continuing.
Early investigations indicate that an electrical fault likely caused the fire. Authorities will continue examining the yacht to confirm the exact cause.
